Katherine versucht, AEG Memorabilia Deal zu verhindern // ist gescheitert

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson's brother Randy is expected on the witness stand to testify about why a proposed memorabilia tour may not be the best deal for the King of Pop's estate.

Randy Jackson, an accountant and a lawyer are among those scheduled to testify Friday in Los Angeles. Another probable witness is concert promoter Leonard Rowe, who has been critical of the company that would oversee the exhibit, AEG Live.

Jackson's mother, Katherine, has opposed the AEG deal for several reasons.

AEG wants to time the tour to the opening of a film based on footage of Jackson's final rehearsals that will be released in October.

A judge wants to hear testimony about the proposed deal so that he can decide whether to give it his approval.

UPDATE 5:30 PM ET -- Taj testified that Michael had a memorabilia section at Neverland and he wanted to create something bigger out of it. He also said he thought Michael felt the rehearsal footage was "Michael's" because he was very protective of his image.

Steht doch im ersten Beitrag. AEG will eine Tour mit MJ Memorabilia machen und der Estate will es wohl auch, aber Katherine setzt alles daran, es zu verhindern wie es aussieht. Und jetzt sagt Gott und die Welt dazu.
Leonard Rowe sollte auch aussagen und dafür wurden ihm vertrauliche Dokumente gezeigt. Jetzt sagt er doch nicht aus, hat aber die Dokumente nicht zurückgegeben. Echt professionell.

Das frage ich mich auch. Und warum sie überhaupt angehört wird - denn sie hat eindeutig kein Mitspracherecht.

UPDATE 5:50 PM ET -- The court has been closed again as one of the senior lawyers for AEG has taken the stand. Outside of court, Taj told reporters the family is more interested in protecting Michael's legacy than in making money. We're expecting to get a ruling today.
