    Anfang dieses Jahres tauchten Berichte auf, dass Lionsgate nach einer Reihe von sieben aufeinanderfolgenden Kassen-Flops außergewöhnlich hohe Erwartungen an Antoine Fuquas kommendes Michael Jackson-Biopic gesetzt hat. Das Studio ist Berichten zufolge zuversichtlich, dass der Film bei seiner Veröffentlichung Anfang nächsten Jahres die 1-Milliarden-Dollar-Marke an den Kinokassen erreichen könnte.


    Eine chinesische Pressemitteilung hat Universal/Lionsgate bestätigt, dass der Film eine riesige Marketingkampagne mit beispielloser Werbung und Investitionen erhalten wird, da sie eine Kinokasse erwarten, die die 2 Milliarden Dollar-Marke weltweit überschreitet. In der Pressemitteilung wird MJ als den größten ausländischen Star der chinesischen Geschichte bezeichnet.
