On this date in 1984, Michael celebrated his ‘Thriller’ album which set the Guinness Book of World Records' record for “top selling album ever made by a solo artist." A record he continues to hold to this day!

The singles “Remember The Time” and “Hold My Hand” have been certified Gold by Danish IFPI Awards, meaning both have sold over 4,500,000 units.

Michael Jackson has surpassed 39 million monthly listeners on Spotify; and “BAD” album has surpassed 2.5 billion streams on Spotify. In Denmark, the album “Xscape” was re-certified Platinum for selling over 20,000 units.

Good news, single “You Rock My World” has just been certified Platinum in the UK, meaning it sold over 600,000 units! Another certification has been claimed but this time for The Jacksons and in Denmark with the single “Blame It On The Boogie” just certified Platinum with over 9,000,000 units.

SMOOTH’S ALL TIME TOP 500! 2024… The Results!

The annual Smooth Radio All Time Top 500 took place this bank holiday week-end.
In 2022, Michael and the Jacksons had 17 songs in the top 500, last year we had 13.
There were a lot of movement this year for Michael and his brothers. New songs appeared in the listing such as “I Want You Back” which entered at #419
Some other songs re-entered the listing such as “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'” making it to #355 and “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) at #347.
Many Michael songs lost positions: “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” lost 180 places, “She’s Out Of My Life” lost 168 places, “You Are Not Alone” lost 82 place, “Beat It” lost 42 places.
“Man In The Mirror ended at #5 compared to #4 the last 2 years.
In total, 16 songs from Michael Jackson, The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons were present this year at the Smooth Radio All Time Top 500. A bit of a disappointment but not bad for Michael!

Michael Jackson Chinese fans purchased a time slot on one of the big LED screens on Times Square, New York to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Michael Jackson’s album ‘Xscape’.
The imagery includes the album cover, fans and of course Michael Jackson.

The Song “Chicago” from the album “Xscape” has been certified Silver (200,000 units), just few days after the 10th Anniversary of its release. To also note in the UK, “I Want You Back” from the Jackson 5 has been certified 3x Platinum (1,800,000 units) and the single “Bad” has been certifies also Platinum (600,000 units). Also the song “Off The Wall” has now surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify making it the 32nd Michael Jackson to be over 100 million streams on the platform.
