MIchael Jackson sued by Pharmacy/failure to pay for drugs

  • What's wrong with this picture? 100,000 dollars? I don't know what currency you guys use in Germany, but to translate it I will say this. 100,000 dollars = a lot of money! A lot of money! It's extremely, extremely rare for a person to spend that much on prescription drugs in 50 years, let alone two years. I think Michael has a drug problem. That's a hundred and fifty dollars a day on prescription drugs.

Which also makes me think the pharmacy is crazy to bring this court. They are going to look like drug dealers. But seriously, there is no way this isn't a drug problem. I know he had one in the 90's for a while after the 93 allegations, because he admitted he was addicted to Morphine. It looks like he's addicted again. It's sad, because this is a time when he should be getting his life back together and concentrating on a new album. Drugs will make that a lot harder.

  • Actually I don't know what pills Michael takes nor does I know why, but the thing I know is that 100,000 $ is a bit of an outlandish number, even for the American Health system...
I wouldn't go so far claiming he has a severe drug problem without knowing all the facts. I mean, the pharmacy declined comment, come on...Who knows this is right? It could be conspiracy as well...:tatort

  • Maybe we should be a bit careful about accusing Michael of being a drug addict.
None of us know what kind of medication Michael needs because none of us know what illness(es?) he suffers from.
There are a number of conditions that require extremely expensive medication.
140 / 150 US-$ per day is not something that is impossible at all.
If you have an illness that means you're in constant pain for example, you need to constantly take pain-killers.
It means you WILL be hooked on them, but it also means you will be able to function in your daily life without a lot of pain.
There are many more examples of what might cause this high a bill.
Being addicted to drugs is no small thing and so we shouldn't be taking it lightly, but neither should we go accusing if we don't have all the facts. That what the press tends to do, no need for us to emulate them.

I agree with you. Even if he owes them 100.000 $ doesn't mean that he still needs the drugs. We all know what he's been through and I am sure he needed a lot of medicine to endure the trial et cetera. Moreover we don't know what he has or had taken. It also doesn't mean that it was all chemical drugs it could have also been on a natural basis and this stuff is extremely expensive.

However, Michael appears to be pretty healthy and stable at the moment, so what?

    :)

EDIT: Michael still suffers from Vitiligo and I bet he needs a lot of medicaton to cope with it in some kind of way. Let alone the skin therapy, don't know what this is all about.

    Jackson pays overdue pharmacy bills

A spokesman for Michael Jackson says the star has settled a dispute with a Los Angeles pharmacy which claimed he owed $US100,000 in unpaid bills.

Mickey Fine Pharmacy had filed a lawsuit in Santa Monica Superior Court alleging breach of oral contract.

The pharmacy said Jackson had failed to pay for prescription drugs supplied to him since December 2005.

However a spokesman for Jackson says the bill has now been paid.

"The issue has been amicably resolved," the spokesman said in a statement.

"Mickey Fine Pharmacy has been paid."

The spokesman says the dispute was related to a separate legal action Jackson is waging against his former accountants.

In court documents filed last month, Jackson alleges the company of Bernstein, Fox, Whitman, Goldman and Sloan has mismanaged his financial affairs.

Jackson is struggling to rebuild his career since his acquittal on child molestation charges in 2005.

Exactly. Medication can be outrageously expensive. Especially in the US where the state doesn't subsidise medication the way it does here.
If you ever knew someone who's suffered from cancer or vitiligo for example or lupus, you know what I'm talking about.
130-150 Dollars a day in those cases is nothing.

And what great news to hear things are getting DONE in Michael's world again! Way to go for settling this one so quickly. :top

  • Jackson entgeht Klage wegen unbezahlter Apotheken-Rechnungen

    Samstag, 13. Januar 2007
    10:11 -- Newsticker Ausland

Jackson lebt mittlerweile in Zurückgezogenheit in Bahrain.

That's not true. It'd be maybe 20 dollars a day. You could go completely numb all over your body for a whole day straight for less than 20 dollars a day. If a person needed 150 dollars worth of drugs a day they wouldn't be walking the streets. They would probably be in intensive care. You'd really have to be very wealthy to have that kind of money to spend on prescrtiption drugs.

During the trial there were unconfirmed rumours that Michael was prescribed drugs to help him cope with the stress of the trial. The stress was runing his back, and he lost a lot of weight. Chances are he probably was prescribed medication just to avoid further health problems, and since he previously had morphine addiction problems, he was especially vulnerable to getting rehooked. It's very easy if you've been hooked before, and the trial surely set in a lot of depression.

It could be the way you say BUT we don't know what kind of medication michael is on or was and there is a whole range of medicine on the market, not just stuff which knocks you out.

You can't expect michael just to take drugs which make him feel numb.

Still, you cannot say what the medication was or how much it was.
Yes, it's possible he is or was hooked on pain killers. But it's just as possible that he is not.
I once new a person who used to have medication that cost €600 (US-$775) a WEEK. And she was still able to function day to day without too many visible problems. I'm not gonna say what her condition was in order to prevent anyone drawing the wrong conclusions, but fact of the matter is, yours is not the only possible conclusion.
Let's give this man the benefit of the doubt. If we don't - who will?
And as I said, over 100 Dollars a day on medication is far from impossible.
With many people that kind of money would be paid by an insurance. But if you have certain conditions, most insurances wouldn't dream of taking you on as a client.
    So you pay everything yourself.
