Unreleased Tracks & Co. / Der Werk-Katalog [zukünftiger Inhalt]

  • Okay,

    1) which album re-release acetate are you referring to? OTW, Thriller, BAD or Dangerous?
    2) "Susie" and "Little Susie" / "Little Suzie" are eiter different recordings or versions of the same song, but recorded at different times (OFW, Dangerous, HIStory eras)
    3) The Jackson 5 of course rehearsed their songs before their performance and it's most likely they recorded the vocals on tape. They sung it as a medley which also featured "Danny Boy" and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" during their Las Vegas shows in 1974. They also presented this medley once on The Tonight Show - hosted by Bill Cosby - in March 1974.
    4) Apparently Michael Jackson worked on the song in 1980 because that's what has been registered first. At that time there was no collaboration with Paul Anka. It seems like he later cooperated with Paul Anka to adapt some new singing techniques (he's become very experimental into new sound directions for him at that time).
I have some doubts that the released version has anything to do with Paul Anka's participation. Paul Anka put on a different version from record during a concert and Sat.1 (German TV station) also played a different version during Joe Jackson's appearance on the 2009 end-of-year review.
    5) A lot. Alone the version that was cut for the album has over 90 MIXES. And "Billie Jean" was one of Michael's masterpieces, so he recorded and experimented on this with countless takes etc.
    6) Slapstick is the FINAL VERSION, "Hot Street" was an early version.
    7) "Victory" was given by Queen to 2 selected fans, but they were strictly told not to leak it. Queen tried to arrange its release on one of their comprehensive career box sets but neither Sony Music nor Michael Jackson let them work out a deal.
    8) Well, Michael often reworked material or ideas he had in the past. Most artists go back to old things and try to create sth out of it they would be proud of if released.
    9) "Groove Of Midnight" has been recorded. That snippet you can find on the internet just doesn't let us hear the recording, it instead provides a funny conversation, right from the studio.
    10) Like "Elizabeth, I Love You" was worked on in a recording studio and due to the fact that Michael is stuck on being as perfect as much as possible, it can be assumed with a very high chance that it surely exits on a DAT/CD.

  • 1) I have forgotten to say, it is otw album
    6) I think like you but I saw that, only here ?! Why people say that the early demo is slapstick ?

    thank you :)

    Apocalypse now

    Zitat

Some new info for u guys...
According to the NEW issue of Rhythm magazine (a UK drum magazine) which has interviews with all of MJ's major drummers... one guy called JR Robinson who is one of MJ's album drummers, said he laid down tons of drum parts for an unreleased BAD album song called "Apocalypse Now".
He said he wrote and recorded 6 and a half minutes of "military drum cadences for it" and he also mentions 3 other musicians he used to lay down percussion for this track to. He called it a 'very hip tune'.

Thats it. Small info but good info for music lovers!

[...] The much anticipated set, reportedly due out by the end of the year, features production by The Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am, Lady Gaga collaborator and RnB singer Akon, New Jack Swing architect Teddy Riley, and the artist himself. "If a Michael Jackson album were to come out today, it would crush everything," says Ne-Yo. [...]

    'Miss You':

    Zitat

One such track was the will.i.am-produced James Brown tribute song "Miss You". The hardest working man in show business had been Michaels biggest idol ever since he took his first steps in the Jackson familys gary, Indiana household. "I told Michael I had the opportunity to record a song with him and he was like, 'You worked James Brown?' [...] 'All my dance moves come from James Brown!' So I was like, 'Yo, let's make a record about how we are going to miss James Brown.' he loved the idea. The groove was very beautiful. It's a mid-tempo soulful groove. It makes me cry."

    'Hold My Hand':

Now that the record-breaking deal with Sony is signed and sealed, Michael Jackson's estate now faces the arduous task of culling the diverse collection of unreleased and/or unfinished tracks recorded during the 2007-2009 sessions.

    Zitat

Already leaked on the internet is Akon and Michael's syrupy sweet ballad 'Hold My Hand', co-written by Claude Kelly, who crafted hits for R.Kelly, Britney Spears and Miley Cirus.

    'The Future', 'The King':

    Zitat

will.i.am's contributions includes the latin jazz-tinged scorcher 'The Future', an infectious dance track reminscent of 'Off The Wall', the aforementioned, soul-stirring James Brown salute 'Miss You', and 'The King', an all-star number that was to feature a legion of performers who were inspired by Jackson. "I said to MJ, 'Let's do a song with everyone that you have obviously influenced," Will explains. "A collaboration with you as the King, and all of your subjects, like Ne-Yo, Usher, Omarion and Chris Brown,' Everybody was signed off on the track."

-> Gerade der Abschnitt zu 'The King' ist sehr interessant. Bislang war noch nicht bekannt, dass es sich dabei um einen Allstar-Song handelt.

  • Many of you Jaywalkers have probably heard of ‘Demon’ – that is, one of the singles which Jay Park will be singing for the ‘Hype Nation’ soundtrack. You probably also know that producer Teddy Riley gave that song to him to sing. But do you know who the song was actually created for?

According to what Riley told Jay, the original owner of the song had been pop king Michael Jackson himself. However, after the artist died, Riley gave the song to Jay, saying that working with the bboy made him think of his days of working with and promoting Michael Jackson during his promotions for hit single ‘Dangerous.’ If there ever was a contest for biggest compliment paid to a budding solo artist, this would have to be the winner! Considering the incredible amount of fame Michael Jackson achieved during his career (as well as the heaps of talent he had), this shows that Riley must have an amazing amount of respect for Korea’s favorite ex-idol.

I’d love to end this article by saying “hopefully, Jay will live up to such expectations,” but that doesn’t need to be said, does it? We all already know that not only will he do so, but he will exceed them as well! Wouldn’t you agree?

  • Michael Jackson's forgotten music out in November
    Posted: 04:31 PM ET

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) - Songs that didn't make the cut on Michael Jackson albums while he was alive and some forgotten recordings left behind on computer hard drives will be on an album released this fall, sources familiar with the project say.

Jackie Jackson, one of the singer's older brothers, has been working in a studio to help prepare the album, which will include 10 previously unheard songs, according to Jackson estate spokesman Jim Bates.

Jackson's estate and Sony Music announced in March that his next album of unreleased music will go on sale in November. Music producer Rodney Jerkins, who co-produced Jackson's 2001 album "Invincible," has been working with Sony to put together the new album, a source familiar with the project said. The source asked not to be identified because he was not authorized by the record label to disclose details.

John McClain, one of the two men named in Jackson's will to be executors of his estate, is also working on the album with Jackie Jackson, Bates said. McClain owns a recording studio in Hollywood.

Jackson was known to rent out Los Angeles recording studios for weeks at a time for creative sessions, sometimes alone and sometimes with other well-known artists.

A producer told CNN that he was surprised to find a large cache of forgotten Michael Jackson music files stored on a hard drive at a Hollywood studio in the months after Jackson's June 25, 2009, death. When he turned the recording device on to start a session, he heard Jackson singing "Hot Fun in the Summertime." The 1969 hit by Sly & the Family Stone is part of an extensive music catalogue that Jackson bought. The producer said he made a backup copy of the 40 gigabytes of Jackson music and turned it over to one of the Jackson estate administrators. He asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Another computer hard drive with music was found in Jackson's rented mansion in the days after his death, Bates said. A Jackson family member later handed the hard drive over to the estate administrators, he said. It was not clear if any of that music will be included in the upcoming project, but Sony's Columbia Records has a contract with Jackson's estate for 10 albums of unreleased material over the next seven years.

Michael Durham Prince Worked On New Songs

I was the first who reported about dozens of new songs MJ recorded with Bradley Buxler in 2009.

Now I can tell you that Michael Durham Prince was also present on these recording sessions, and will be credited if these songs will ever be released. He was the audio supervisor of the planned This Is It live shows.

Beispiele: "Get Out Of My Mind" von Nicolas Piedra, "Sensitivity" von Ralph Tresvant, "Mamacita" von Jason Malachi
