  • India.Arie regarding Michael Jackson

I don't know what to say. I loved him. Not just his music but ‘him’ his idealism and openness and humanitarian heart, his understanding of the human family as one, the high spiritual nature of him and to juxtapose THAT, with a great worldly impact and success,..... He was TRULY a special soul. As a person in the music industry, I've seen a glimpse of how rewarding but also how hurtful it can be , especially for sensitive souls. I actually think he was too special and fragile for the world he was in. My heart goes put to every member of his family.”

Mh….

^^ Angel Of Harlem mit Snippets von Man in the mirror und Don't stop til you get enough.

Am Anfang sagte Bono anscheinend: "We wrote this song for Billie Holiday, but today we dedicate it to Michael Jackson....so long."

  • Corey Feldman on the death of Michael Jackson

    MICHAEL JACKSON:GONE TOO SOON!!
    Hi everyone,

I come to you today with great sadness, acknowledging the loss of the greatest entertainer in the history of mankind. For me he was more than that, he was my idol, he was a role model, he was someone to cry to when my childhood was unbearable, he was a brother, he was a dear friend.

Unfortunately Michael and I had a falling out on Septenmber 10th 2001 and that broken friendship had never been repaired. I have stayed close with his family through the years. As a matter of fact my wife and I attended LaToyas birthday thrown by Janet 3 weeks ago on Susie’s actual birthday. Michael was supposed to be there and we were supposed to try and talk things out. Michael didn’t show because he was stuck in rehearsals for his upcoming tour.

I am trembling and shaking at the moment and it is very hard to type. I am filled with tremendous sadness and remorse. All I choose to remember from this point is the good times we shared and what an inspiration he was to me and the rest of the world. Nobody will ever be able to do what Michael Jackson has done in this industry, and he was so close to doing it all again. I would like to extend my condolences to the Jackson Family, particularily to Katherine and Joseph Jackson, who cared so much for their beloved son. I am truly, and deeply sorry for all of the heartbroken fans and supporters worldwide. I think I am still in shock. So I must end this now.

I also want to offer my regrets and sympathies to Farrah Fawcetts families, I met her only once but she was lovely when I met her, and I am sad for her passing.

As far as our concert on Saturday at Universal goes. I will not cancel this show it is a very positive first step in implementing a better standard for the touring world and music industry. As Michael taught me a long time ago……the show must go on. It will be a hard one to get through. But I will brave it and do the only thing I know how to do………perform.

I will see you out there Saturday night.

    PEACE LOVE HAPPINESS TRUTH

    Corey

-watching mj coverage on cnn. i don't understand why doctor/nurse/patient confidentiality goes out the window once someone dies...

-I don't think they should be able to tell all of his medical business on the news after his death. Not cool.

-Any lawyers out there know if MJ's family/estate can sue doctors/nurses who violate confidentiality after his death?

Am Anfang sagt Bono hier: "We met Michael Jackson in .... over the years. Unspeakable talent...that's all there is to say.

Anstatt "Angel of Harlem" Angel of Indiana und anstatt "She's heart and soul" He's heart and soul.

  • The video for "Scream," the first single from Jackson's 1995 album HIStory, still ranks as one of the priciest videos ever made (its budget has been estimated around $7 million) -- and one of Jackson's best (not to mention one of the last times he would collaborate with sister, Janet). Today, director Mark Romanek shared his memories of working with the superstar siblings exclusively with EW:

"Being a huge fan, I was – of course – extremely nervous to meet him. Michael was unquestionably eccentric, but to my surprise, he was warm, curious, amusing, and un-temperamental. I was particularly struck by how this legendary megastar became just another affectionate, playful, protective big brother whenever Janet was around.
"I took the opportunity to chat with him between takes and he always skewed the conversation away from himself. He asked about my childhood, my favorite films, if I knew how to swim, my religion, etc. My mother visited the set, and Michael immediately charmed her, asking her to hold his jacket while he filmed, giving her a warm hug and kiss as he left the set each day. My mom felt like she had a new best friend. The chance to experience the phenomenon of his gift from only a few feet away was the treat of a lifetime. Over those ten days of filming, I felt like I had the single greatest job in the world. And I think, perhaps, I actually did. I’m sorry his life became so horrendously complicated. As a person, he didn’t actually seem that complicated to me."

  • Stevie Wonder pays a musical tribute

Wonder performed the opening street show for the 30th edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival Tuesday night

    Les Perreaux

MONTREAL — From Wednesday's Globe and Mail Last updated on Wednesday, Jul. 01, 2009 08:59AM EDT

Both pop stars got childhood Motown starts, but while Michael Jackson faded into weirdness and scandal, Stevie Wonder adds to his legend with every piano lick.

Mr. Jackson's friend and mentor is living his own torment as he mourns the death of the 50-year-old King of Pop. Mr. Wonder, nine years Mr. Jackson's senior, broke down during a concert earlier this week in Milwaukee.

Mr. Wonder says he's stayed quiet on Mr. Jackson's death amid the cacophony and he struggles to explain the divergent paths their lives took after parallel starts.

"I really think if you get hung up on expectations, then that can be a pressure," Mr. Wonder said, hours before taking the stage last night to open Montreal's jazz festival.

"Fortunately, I've never been hung up on expectations. My expectations are really in pleasing God. And everyone else is secondary, if not lower than that."

In the 1970s, when Mr. Wonder was a young adult, and the lead singer of the Jackson 5 was still a child, Mr. Jackson would pepper his mentor with questions about recording techniques. During breaks, they played air hockey.

But childhood games and curiosity were no escape from the iron discipline of the Jackson patriarch, Joe Jackson, and his endless rehearsals and frequent beatings. Later Michael Jackson became known for his own perfectionism - long before the plastic surgery, child abuse allegations and erratic behaviour.

As Mr. Jackson was mourned and his final years dissected again yesterday, Mr. Wonder received an award from the Montreal jazz festival, one he shares with a few other musical legends, including Miles Davis, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

He urged Mr. Jackson's fans to ignore the "toxicity" dominating coverage of the music legend's life.

"I don't know what happened with him over the years; I don't ever listen to hearsay," Mr. Wonder said.

"But I can tell you it's not impossible for someone to be affected by what is being said, and particularly if what is being said has not been proven as being true."

Last night Mr. Wonder drew tens of thousands under menacing skies to downtown Montreal for a show that promised to be at tribute to Mr. Jackson.

Mr. Wonder ended his news conference singing a jazzy version of his 1984 hit, I Just Called to Say I Love You, ad-libbing new lyrics for his friend.

"Michael know that I'm here and I love you,'' sang Mr. Wonder, his voice wavering slightly. "We're all here and ... playing and buying your music to show your family we mean it from the bottom of our hearts."

Mr. Wonder has also added a new song to his set called In the Arms of God. He wrote the lyrics as he cringed at the Jackson death coverage.

"I wrote the music and melody a long time ago, but it was on the day I was checking out the things on television, all the riff-raff and confusion in the make-money news information, that I thought, well, at the end of the day, if he wasn't at peace, he's at peace in the arms of God. It's done."

  • With his enormous talent, Michael kept giving us power, inspiration and joy.
Yet he knew that the world was not kind to him for many reasons,
some of it going right back to racism.
That must have been so hard for him.
His various attempts to be loved by the world equaled the pain he received from it.
Michael, now you are free from all that.
    Rest well in Peace.
We will always remember you and love you for what you were to us.
    With love,

  • Quincy Jones – the prodigious producer behind some of Michael Jackson's biggest hits – grew emotional at a London event on Saturday hosted by Will.i.am as club night turned into a tribute to the late singer.

"He got very upset when Michael's music came on – at one point his head was in his hands," a patron of Club W in Wandsworth tells PEOPLE. The club had booked the Black Eyed Peas singer to deejay and perform with his band – which was minus Fergie.

The legendary Jones, 76, arrived at Club W after midnight, just as Will.i.am was playing Jackson's 1982 smash "Thriller." "It was a total coincidence," says the source, "but [Jones] loved the fact that people were going crazy on the dancefloor. Quincy seemed genuinely touched."

Jones made a beeline to the deejay booth and greeted Will, who showed him the decks, and the pair "played around on the laptop for a few minutes" before the obvious topic of conversation came up.

Jones told Will "that he hadn't come to terms with it at all and that he really couldn’t bring himself to talk about Michael yet because it was too painful," says the club source.

Right after, Will.i.am told the crowd he would play a medley of Michael Jackson music. "The crowds were screaming and dancing, a few looked emotional but Quincy looked so sad, sitting in the VIP area," says the observer. "When 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' played, his eyes welled up, he had his head in his hands."

Jones then requested some time to himself to collect his thoughts, and was led to a vacant dressing room.
