    Russell Brand on Janet Jackson's Secret VMA Rehearsals


    "The Insider" talks to Russell Brand about his upcoming MTV VMA hosting duties, the performances and the highly anticipated trailer for Michael Jackson's 'This Is It.'



    The always cool-tempered comedian says he's looking forward to Jay-Z and other acts, including Janet Jackson.


    "I can't tell you details, because it's a secret," he says of Janet's planned tribute to her late brother, adding that he plans to hide under the stage during rehearsals to get a sneak peek!


    As for poking fun at the very same celebs the VMAs honor, "It's just telling jokes," he says.


    Russell also weighed in on the latest "American Idol" news -- watch the video to see if he's team Paula Abdul or on the side of new judge Ellen DeGeneres.

    LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson fans will get their first peek at the behind-the-scenes documentary of the pop star's final three months Sunday evening during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, MTV said.


    Janet Jackson "will help open the entire show to honor Michael's celebrated career," the network said. No other details about her "special appearance" were released.


    The debut of the trailer for "Michael Jackson's This Is It" will come about four weeks after concert promoter AEG Live handed over to Sony Pictures about 100 hours of video captured between April and June, when Jackson was preparing for his concert comeback.


    Fans who miss the MTV show, which will air live at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, can preview the documentary at Michael Jackson's This Is It beginning Sunday night, the network said.


    The trailer makes its big screen debut September 18 with the Sony Pictures Animation release of "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs."


    The Jackson documentary will run in theaters worldwide for just two weeks starting October 28, Sony Pictures said. Tickets will go on sale September 27.


    "Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect and genius as he creates and perfects his final show," Sony said.

    Kenny Ortega, who was working with Jackson to create the This Is It concert, is also directing the documentary.


    "As we began assembling the footage for the motion picture, we realized we captured something extraordinary, unique and very special," Ortega said. "It's a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius's world."


    Ortega said Jackson's This Is It "may go down as the greatest concert that no one got a chance to see," as the pop singer died June 25, three weeks before it was to debut in London, England's O2 Arena. "But with this film, we get a rare portrait of Michael as he prepares for his final curtain call and what I believe was going to be his master work."

Der Clip enthüllt exklusives Material, das die 50-jährige Pop-Ikone bei den Proben zu seiner geplanten Comeback-Tour zeigt, und wird Sonntagnacht, 13. September, um 21 Uhr in den Staaten zu sehen sein.


    Michael Jackson: Ein emotionales Thema


    Dave Sirulnick, ausführender Produzent der VMAs, erklärt dazu: “Es gibt ganz offensichtlich viele Emotionen im Bezug auf Michael und die Erinnerungen an Michael, aber ich denke, es wird eine recht feierliche Nacht.”


    Während der Trailer zu sehen sein wird, wird die Webseite der Doku online gehen. Der eigentliche Film läuft ab dem 28. Oktober weltweit in den Kinos.

    *****s Schwester Janet soll die erste Performance der VMAs übernehmen und die Musik-Nacht damit eröffnen. Die ‘All For You’-Interpretin probt derzeit 15 Stunden am Tag mit bis zu 20 Backgroundtänzern.


    Es wird erwartet, dass auch andere Stars den King of Pop während der Show ehren, obwohl weitere Details wie ein Schatz gehütet werden. Sirulnick erklärt lediglich: “Einige Leute arbeiten seit einigen Wochen ziemlich hart daran.”


    Das Spektakel wird von dem englischen Comedy-Star Russell Brand moderiert und findet in der New York City Radio Hall statt.


    Anm.d.Red.: Michael Jackson ist tot, aber immer noch da. In diesem Jahr wird wohl kein Event der Musikbranche an Michael Jackson vorbeikommen. Sein Tod hat ihn noch populärer gemacht.

    Also wenn sie das mit einer 70er-Aufnahme von Elvis gemacht haben...Dann stellt euch doch mal vor, was sie mit Michael's super-duper-Aufnahmen machen könnten. Michael's Videos waren immer auf dem neusten technischen Stand.


    Vielleicht verwenden sie ja einige 3D-Aufnahmen von "This Is It" :D Genug restliches Material haben sie ja... ;D:tfd
