Michael's Europa-Mini-Tour : Hamburg/Venedig/Florenz/Sorrent/Rom/London

  • This was reported in a Hungarian news program a few minutes before: the Hungarian Army has been alarmed because an unidentified Boeing entered Hungary's air. The airplane came from London and passed to Bahrain, but nobody could tell who is on the board, including the NATO (they alarmed our Army). They checked out the airplane with 2 MIG's and they found out that some VIP persons were on the board.

    -------------
Did any of you listen to the Radio 1 chart. I am sure they were hinting at a tour. I am sure they mentioned something about being the official Jackson Action station for his final tour. I am really confused, is it me or did anyone else hear this?"

"Noooooo before people start getting excited...they played clips from the last time Michael was in London...and they had a "report" from their "reporter" who was on board the flight Michael was on, he was asked about vegetarian meals, said Michael was with a 70 person entourage, and that he couldn't see Bubbles...
    They were playing around...
that was about the bad tour"

  • Michael Jackson eyes stately home in Britain 30 minutes ago
    AFP NEWS LONDON

LONDON (AFP) - US pop singer Michael Jackson may be thinking about moving to Britain after he made enquiries about purchasing a stately home in the country, a British newspaper says.

The former megastar and his three children have been staying on and off at Cliveden, a magnificent dwelling in Berkshire, southern England, for the past month, the Mail on Sunday reported.

The weekly said "it was understood" that Jackson, 47, had asked whether the mansion was up for sale, only to be told it belonged to The National Trust and was leased to a hotel group.

The star's official spokesman, however, told the newspaper: "It would surprise no one if Michael ended up staying in Britain."

Cliveden, one of Britain's grandest stately homes, has a colourful past that adds to its allure.

A swimming pool in the grounds was where John Profumo, a former minister caught up in a Cold War sex and spy tangle, first met the ravishing young call girl Christine Keeler who ended his career. Profumo died on Friday aged 91.

Jackson, for his part, has other housing problems at present.

California authorities have closed his Neverland ranch after workers complained they have not been paid since December.

The pop star has spent most of his time in Bahrain since he was acquitted last June of sexual molestation charges by a California jury.

During his trip to Britain, Jackson, using the pseudonym Mr Tucker, has also stayed at a hotel in the Cotswolds, southwest England, and visited Scotland, according to Mail on Sunday.

  • Jackson tries to buy Profumo mansion
By IAN GALLAGHER, KATIE NICHOLL and CAROLINE GRAHAM, The Mail on Sunday

    09:33am 12th March 2006

Michael Jackson has made enquiries about buying one of Britain's grandest stately homes, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
For the past month the reclusive pop star and his three children have been staying on and off at Cliveden in Berkshire, the magnificent backdrop to the Profumo sex scandal.

It is understood he asked if it was for sale but was told it belonged to The National Trust and was leased to a hotel group. His interest, however, has led to speculation among his friends that he plans to settle here.

And his official spokesman said: "It would surprise no one if Michael ended up staying in Britain." For part of their stay on the estate, the Jacksons were ensconced in secluded Spring Cottage, once the scene of wild orgies involving call girls, a Russian spy and leading names of the Establishment.

The nearby swimming pool is where John Profumo, who died last week, first met Christine Keeler. Using the pseudonym Mr Tucker, Jackson also stayed at a hotel in the Cotswolds and visited Scotland.

Since abandoning his Californian home last year after his acquittal on child sex abuse charges, the singer, struggling to rebuild his life, has lived mainly in Bahrain. But friends say he cannot envisage living there permanently. Beset by financial difficulties and facing a civil lawsuit containing yet more allegations of abuse, he has also ruled out returning to America.

A source close to the star said: "Michael has a special affinity for Britain and can see himself living there." It is understood he has consulted friends about finding schools for his two eldest children, eightyear-old Prince Michael Jr and Paris Katherine Michael, seven.

By Jackson's standards the month-long stay Britain has been low-key. Unlike his last visit, when he stayed at The Dorchester in London with a vast entourage, he has been accompanied only by his children's Ugandan nanny and two minders.

Normally, he is photographed wherever he goes. That he has been able to live undisturbed in Britain has convinced him, say friends, to stay on a more permanent basis. He was last seen in public in Hamburg in January and was mobbed by hundreds of fans.

    Living in splendour

He has been living in splendour over the past month - his stay at Cliveden alone cost £30,000 - but he was given a sharp reminder of his money problems only last week. He was ordered to shut down his Neverland ranch and fined £100,000 for failing to pay employees.

There will inevitably be questions about how he was in a position even to think about buying Cliveden. During his trial last June the court was told he had only $38,000 in the bank in February 2003 - with debts of almost $300 million.

However he still has his best-selling albums, a property portfolio and a 50 per cent share in the company which owns the back catalogue to virtually all The Beatles songs. After his acquittal on abuse charges Jackson sunk into depression. Friends say, however, that his spell in Britain has been "a positive and rejuvenating experience".

At Cliveden, which was once owned by the Astor family and became a hotel in the Eighties, the singer and his children initially stayed in the neo-Gothic Spring Cottage - rented by Stephen Ward during the Profumo scandal.

They then moved to the Lady Astor suite, which has a private balcony overlooking the hotel's grounds, and is the most expensive room at Cliveden. It was once the bedroom of Nancy Astor, Britain's first female MP to take up her seat.

The Italianate house itself is regarded as one of the finest country homes in England and was built in the 19th Century. After two weeks at Cliveden, Jackson moved to another luxurious pile - Buckland Manor Hotel near Broadway, Gloucestershire. It is understood he visited his friend Mark Lester, child star of the 1968 musical Oliver!, at his home in Cheltenham.

Staff at Buckland Manor said Jackson was visited by an "Indian gentleman" - possibly a doctor - who flew from New York. After a week he returned to Cliveden on March 2. A source close to the star said: "He has said he wants to buy the place" - but given its National Trust status, the chances of anyone buying it would be minuscule.

Jackson's spokesman said: "Michael has been in the UK for several weeks now. It is very unlikely he will return to the US. Europe and Britain in particular feel like a safe haven to him at this time."
