The King of Pop, and Hamburgers

    Atlanta, GA
A 26-year-old female manager of a McDonald’s on Cleveland Avenue notified police that a man has been calling the restaurant and harassing her. According to the manager, the caller said, “My name is Michael Jackson, I have a limousine waiting for you, I watch you all the time, what color panties do you have on, I know you where (sic) glasses, and where is the girl with the missing teeth.”

The manager said the man has been calling for a month. She said she must have served him in the past because he knows what every employee in the store looks like. She doesn’t think the suspect’s real name is Michael Jackson. Police were given a phone number on the caller.

  • RANT: Michael Jackson Leaves A Lump Of Coal In Your Stocking
    By J.P. Gorman: 2006-12-19

You didn’t think things could get much worse for Michael Jackson. You were wrong.

For the past month, Jackson had been scheduled to appear at an exclusive Tokyo Christmas party. He was not being tapped to perform--only to be there, gracing partygoers with his presence and signing autographs while other performers danced to his music. According to NME, die-hard fans paid as much as $3,400 for tickets to the event, scheduled to be held Dec. 19.

All he had to do was show up, eat dinner and listen to his own music. He, of course, could not oblige, and the event has been postponed. No reason was given for the deferment, but the party has been rescheduled for March 8, 2007. Though it is doubtful the rescheduled event will still be dubbed a Christmas party, no one knows for sure: In Michael Jackson’s world, nothing is as it should be. If Christmas has to come in March to fit his schedule, so be it.

The King of Pop needs to abdicate his throne. It’s not even fun to mock him anymore. These days, a deep sigh and a heavy heart are all that news of the singer garners. He’s been a laughingstock for so long, he’s turned himself into such a joke, that there’s no longer any point in laughing. In fact, that may be the major accomplishment of his twilight years: He took the fun out of laughter.

There is an argument in his defense that says, “You know what, he’s Michael Jackson, he can do what he wants. His career does the talking for him, and he answers to nobody.” It’s a solid argument, but it’s also a fallacious one. There is, in fact, one group of people he has to answer to--his fans, the record-buying public who made him what he is, especially the insanely loyal ones willing to pay $3,400 to be at a holiday party with him in 2006.

This fawning worship doesn’t make sense, not after all we’ve seen. Dangerous, his last killer album (don’t bring up Invincible, Jacko fans, for your own sake more than anything), came out 15 years ago. Since then, it’s been a neverending slippery slope to oblivion, the descent of his good name gaining velocity with each passing year.

The fans are still out there, though, and they’ll rush to their hero’s aid, pitchforks and torches in hand, zealous devotion in their eyes. He made Thriller. He did the Moonwalk. He only needed one glove. He produced the adolescent soundtrack for so many fans across the globe. He is and always will be Michael Jackson, and he’ll always have his flock, ready when he needs them.

That’s all well and good. But sycophants, be wary: Sure, he loves you and all, but at the end of the day, he’s Michael Jackon, and he answers to nobody.

What about Invincible. Every critic seemed to blast it, but I find it highly underrated. Perhaps it was calculated maybe not exactly innovative, but I can\'t recall anything better in 2001. None other than Eminem agrees with that statement. The reason it didn\'t sell was because of MJ\'s oddities and general weirdness (and that the \'93 allegations were not fully forgotten), not the quality of the music. I mean his face did not look good in the \"You Rock My World\" video. The most relevant competition at the time was probably Usher\'s 8701. Good, but Invincible was better. Let us go through track by track.
1.Unbreakable: Catchy hook, great beat and a posthumous rap by biggie. There was a reason MJ wanted this as the first single.
2.Heartbreaker: Perhaps this can be considered filler, but this is a perfectly presentable track which grows on you after a few listens. This was the pattern with much of the album. I suspect many of the critics listened once and then judged. However this filler is definitely better than the new jack filler at the beginning of \"his last killer album\" (Dangerous).
3.Invincible: Similar sound to Heartbreaker. Again perhaps filler, but it sounds just as good as most anything else on the radio in \'01. The first three tracks plus YRMW, Privacy and Threatened are the Rodney Jerkins produced fare. Personally I think Riley\'s tracks were stronger.
4.Break of Dawn: This is a good mid tempo song by Dr. Freeze. Was included on Number 1\'s in 2003, despite never being a single. Easily listenable this holds up to anything that did make the top 10 in 2001.
5.Heaven can wait: While this sounds more like an Usher beat, I don\'t understand what isn\'t to like here. It\'s a great Teddy Riley produced song. Good for cruising.
6.You Rock My World: This was the first single and was accompanied by a 12 min movie. When I first heard this in \'01 I thought it was as catchy as the other MJ songs that were on rotation. This is debatably the best song on the album. After about the fifth listen it becomes a form of addictive drug.
7.Butterflies: This is the most innovative thing on the album and although it wasn\'t even promoted, it was still a hit on urban radio. It really showcases his vocal range.
8.Speechless: Saccharine and one of the lesser produced tracks. It was 1 of 2 done completely by MJ himself. If you liked Heal the World or Childhood this one\'s for you. However I don\'t think people do. A miscalculation perhaps.
9.2000 Watts: The big Riley dance track. Overlooking the 3d glasses, it\'s quite catchy. The vocals don\'t really sound like MJ, but the song is fine.
10.You are my life: Another sugary ballad, produced by Babyface. It depends of your personal taste in ballads. It\'s certainly not unlistenable, nor is anything on Invicible.
11.Privacy: MJ\'s anti-media rant. A verse about Princess D is also found. An angry song. If you liked the angrier stuff on HiStory(They don\'t care about us, Scream, Tabloid Junkie, This time around) this will have some appeal.
12.Don\'t Walk Away: Hidden away here is my personal favourite ballad. The vocals are able to evoke emotion without the sugar of You are my life or Speechless. Riley produced. It\'s only weakness is vocal oddities in the early verse. If you give it a chance you will like.
13.Cry: This was the second single which wasn\'t really promoted and didn\'t hit. It is an honourable song by R. Kelly and is perfect for MJ. It was supposed to be the You Are Not Alone of Invincible but didn\'t work out. It\'s not as good as that, but it is by no means bad, and should have done better on the charts.
14.The Lost Children: Sigh. This was not a good idea. The second song that MJ did by himself. If one forgets the subject matter and MJ\'s history the tune isn\'t bad. Until the children\'s choir that is. This should have been cut. However this is the exception and not the rule on Invincible.
15.Whatever Happens: This should have definitely released as a single. MJ is narrating a love story and it\'s completely believable. It has a Latin beat and Santana\'s guitar brings it to life. You really should give it a listen.
16.Threatened: The sequel of sorts to Thriller. Too bad a video was never made for this. This in no way shames the legacy of his most famous video single. Rod Serling\'s old audio clips add an eerie touch.

So there you have it. I definitely think that Invincible is a better overall album than Dangerous and is in no way shaming performance. Perhaps if people would listen without prejudice, they would see. I\'m sure you can get it for cheap.

    :cool

  • ^stimmt schon -
    weisst du was ich meine?

:skepsis
unnötig, wenn man zuvor doch ganz positiv schreibt. :hm

Black Eyed Peas Guy Shocked By MJ's Request
Filed under: Black Eyed Peas , Michael Jackson

Will.2.0 or whatever was shocked and dismayed overjoyed when Ole Creepy Plastic Face asked him to guest-produce his latest bid for normalcy album.

Rapper WILL.I.AM has spoken out about his shock at being asked to collaborate on MICHAEL JACKSON's first album in six years. THE BLACK EYED PEAS star was convinced someone was playing a joke on him when he received a call from Jackson asking him to collaborate on his new album. But he was soon satisfied he really was speaking to the THRILLER singer and they quickly began sharing daily conversations and discussing new material. He says, "Michael called up and I thought someone was joking. I hear, 'Hello, it's Michael,' and I was like, 'Yeah right, stop playing!' "Then he said, 'I want to congratulate you on all your success. Do you mind if I call you in a couple of days at 4pm?' "Then he started ringing me every day at 4pm. So I started working on music for him on the tour bus."
Nothing is more natural than sharing a bed recording studio with a young boy Will. I. Am. Pass the Jesus Juice. Hopefully they can get Fergie to bounce around in the video so the plastic surgery is spread around a little more evenly and I don't have to shudder and change the channel as quickly.

  • Michael Jackson plant neues Comeback

    |27.12.06

Holy sh*t, this couldn't be more perfect if you threw a few chimps and an oxygen tank into the mix (though they are likely already in the mix) - MICHAEL JACKSON IS FREAKING MOVING TO LAS VEGAS.

That's right. The, ahem, King Of Pop had been in self-imposed exile in Bahrain and had recently, no joke, been living in an Irish castle owned by Michael Flatley, the cat from Riverdance. Seriously, we can't make this stuff up. Anyway, MJ and his crew of shorties arrived in Sin City over the weekend and are rumored to be setting up shop for a number of projects.

The Las Vegas strip is adding a new glitzy icon - Michael Jackson.

The King of Pop is leaving his self-imposed exile overseas and heading for Sin City, claims Vegas dealmaker Jack Wishna.

Wishna told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the 48-year-old entertainer is planning a big comeback in the gambling mecca.

"We are working on several projects," Wishna told the newspaper.

Jackson and his children - Prince Michael, 9, Paris, 8, and Prince Michael II, 4 - arrived in Las Vegas Saturday night from Ireland, where they've been living part-time in a castle.

Since his June 2005 acquittal on child molestation charges, Jackson has been splitting his time between Bahrain and Ireland.

Jackson's surprise relocation back to the States comes just a day after his father, Joe Jackson, vowed his son would never live in this country again. Wishna would not reveal where on the Strip Jackson plans to relaunch his career, but he said the Grammy-winning superstar could be bigger in Vegas than Celine Dion.

"One of the greatest entertainers in the world is poised to return to the top of the entertainment world soon," Wishna said.
