• Zitat

^First single is coming out in late August or early September. I've been told this over and over for the past couple months. Nothing has changed in that department.

    Zitat

-> That's a name they are throwing around in addition to L.O.V.E.

    And "Forever" .. (my fave)

-> Of course some announcement will be forthcoming "in the coming weeks", which is a phrase so vague it could cover anything up to the end of summer.

Not true. I was told specifically to expect an official announcement for the single in late June. The absolute latest date to announce it is Tuesday July 6th. (I was told this directly). Single will be released late August/early September (keep your eye out for week of Aug 23rd and Aug 30th) with the full album coming out in November or even late October. An official date has not been set in stone, although I am told the selection process has begun to wind down and will be completely finished by the end of July. The album will then be handed over to Sony in August who will then review it, and begin to print the album booklet, begin manufacturing, and start their marketing initiatives.

The first single will begin the massive marketing campaign by Sony, and a second single will be released in time for Christmas.

The album is currently scheduled for a similar time slot that the previous album, INVINCIBLE once had:
    October 29th, 2010

INVINCIBLE was released on 29th October 2001 (on the 30th in the USA) - nine years ago.

Übrigens: Morgen kommt das Vibe-Magazine raus, in welchem Akon, Ne-Yo und will.i.am über ihre Arbeit mit Michael reden.

The issue is now on news stands. I didn't have a chance to buy it since I was in a rush. One part of the article that did catch my eye while quickly skimming it was that mj experimented with auto tune.

Just for discussion sakes; My source at Sony Music has told me there will definitely be tracks from the "2007 Cascio recordings" on the new album, PLUS some even newer stuff!

Of course there will be stuff from before 2007 as well. Likely the vast majority, if not all the album, will be 98-09... Maybe one or two outside this timeframe but nothing is final yet.

    Interessante Passagen:

    Zitat

[...] The next phase of the plan included a new album and a landmark series of gigs at Londons O2 arena to be called This Is It. [...]

    Zitat

[...] The much anticipated set, reportedly due out by the end of the year, features production by The Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am, Lady Gaga collaborator and RnB singer Akon, New Jack Swing architect Teddy Riley, and the artist himself. "If a Michael Jackson album were to come out today, it would crush everything," says Ne-Yo. [...]

    Zitat

Composer David Michael Frank was equally impressed with the power of Jacksons conviction. The Baltimore native planned to collaborate on an unfinished classical album with Jackson just mounths before his death. In late April 2009, Frank was invited to the singers Holmby Hills home to discuss the compositions. Michael revealed his plans for additional projects to Frank that evening: a tour and the album of pop music. "He played me some pieces and we talked about the orchestration," Frank says. "They were very simple, pretty and childlike."

    Zitat

"... But when he got in the studio he was an entirely different person. He became a robot." (Akon)

Michaels team was coming together. With will.i.am and Akon on board, RnB songsmith Ne-Yo and blast-from-the-past wingman Teddy Riley, who helped revintalize Jackson on his 1991 classic Dangerous, rounded out the crew.

Ne-Yo, however, admits he wasn't so gung-ho about working with the iconic entertainer at first. "I actually felt bad because before we met I allowed the media to just really paint a picture in my mind of Michael," he says. Yet during their early 2009 meeting held at the Manhatten home of Warner Music Group Chairman and CEO lyor Cohen, Ne-Yo encountered a 'normal' Michael Jackson clad in an all-black suit, tie and big mirror sunglasses. "He was like, 'It's really nice to meet you ... I'm a fan of your music'," Ne-Yo says, marvelling. "He even sang one of my songs, 'Go On Girl'. We talked about the album and he told me, 'I'm not trying to follow any trends. I'm not trying to go back in time. I'm just trying to do quality music with a melody thats infectious and has a message.'"

    Zitat

"Mike would say 'I want these songs to be happy," recalls Akon. "'When people hear it, I want their hearts to be warmed up ... I want people to get up and dance. I want them to be full of love."

Etwas zum bislang unveröffentlichten Song "Miss You" / "We Miss You":

    Zitat

One such track was the will.i.am-produced James Brown tribute song "Miss You". The hardest working man in show business had been Michaels biggest idol ever since he took his first steps in the Jackson familys gary, Indiana household. "I told Michael I had the opportunity to record a song with him and he was like, 'You worked James Brown?' [...] 'All my dance moves come from James Brown!' So I was like, 'Yo, let's make a record about how we are going to miss James Brown.' he loved the idea. The groove was very beautiful. It's a mid-tempo soulful groove. It makes me cry."

    Zitat

Michael developed a very open, trusting relationship with the producers working on his comeback album. And they kept it real with him. Riley wasn't afraid to let the master know when he made a misstep. "I heard MJ doing Auto-Tune on some tracks," he says in a comically indignant tone. "I said, 'Oh no! I don't want to say any names. I would never use Auto-Tune with Mike. My whole thought process was let Mike sind. people love his vocals."

    Zitat

No matter what genre of music he recorded, Michael challenged his producers. "When we were in the studio, Michael would say, 'Give me more than you would expect out of yourself," remembers Akon. "He never settled."

    Zitat

[...] He would finish the new album just before kicking off the live shows in July.

    Zitat

"He was always in control." (Travis Payne)
And that control included pushing the envelope musically. Jackson wasn't trying to present some sort of nostalgia trip. "He really had hoped during the London shows that he would be able to reveal some of his new material," Ortega recalls. "The new songs were a big part of Michaels time when he wasn't at rehearsal." Over an over Michael would excitedly tell This Is It's production crew of his plans to return to the top of the pop charts with the music he and his team were making in Vegas. "Soon, soon ... " Michael would say to Ortega. "I want to hear what we are doing." But it was not to be. [...]

    Zitat

"I sent him a few pieces, which he sais were taking him back to the days of The Isley Brothers' "Shout". It was going to be the next level," Riley described the material as Parliament Funkadelic meets Toto - a big sound. "We never got the chance to record it," Riley adds. "But beyond the music, I miss my friend."

    Zum neuen Album dieses Jahr:

    Zitat

Now that the record-breaking deal with Sony is signed and sealed, Michael Jackson's estate now faces the arduous task of culling the diverse collection of unreleased and/or unfinished tracks recorded during the 2007-2009 sessions.

Already leaked on the internet is Akon and Michael's syrupy sweet ballad 'Hold My Hand', co-written by Claude Kelly, who crafted hits for R.Kelly, Britney Spears and Miley Cirus.

Genauere Infos zu den will.i.am Tracks:

    Zitat

will.i.am's contributions includes the latin jazz-tinged scorcher 'The Future', an infectious dance track reminscent of 'Off The Wall', the aforementioned, soul-stirring James Brown salute 'Miss You', and 'The King', an all-star number that was to feature a legion of performers who were inspired by Jackson. "I said to MJ, 'Let's do a song with everyone that you have obviously influenced," Will explains. "A collaboration with you as the King, and all of your subjects, like Ne-Yo, Usher, Omarion and Chris Brown,' Everybody was signed off on the track."
