    Mondlandung??? :?

(sda)

  • Michael Jackson's 48-Hour Countdown to Thrill

Michael Jackson is on notice this morning. In 48 hours, he’s got to show up for the World Music Awards and perform "Thriller."

Think it will happen? The odds are against it. Here’s why.

For one thing, Jackson has a "HIStory" of not going through with promises to do shows. For another, he just doesn’t have the team to get him through this event.

Jackson famously backs out of shows, in fact. Eleven years ago next month, Jackson collapsed backstage at the Beacon Theater in New York while rehearsing a show for HBO. He was taken to the hospital and the show was cancelled.

But sources close to Jackson told me recently that the pop star never considered going through with that show, and the whole "collapse" was contrived so he could get out it.

"He called me and said, 'You don’t think I’m really doing it, do you?'" the source recalled.

f Jackson pulls such a stunt on Wednesday, though, the odds are higher on the chances of ruining what’s left of his career. But staging "Thriller" for an international audience, with no actual manager or production company? That doesn’t seem likely. Currently, Jackson’s only managers are his publicist, Raymone Bain, and his children’s nanny, Grace Rwaramba.

"He has no one who’s ever put on a show around him," one critic says.

Watch for Jackson to invoke a bad back or exhaustion, his two most frequent excuses. But don’t expect him to say he had a spider bite. Jackson used that one three years when he was testifying in a breach of contract lawsuit in Santa Maria, Calif. Later, those close to him admitted that the spider bite was concocted to cover for a home injection that had gone badly.

    (jepp...fox news ;D )

  • King Of Pop Staying At The Lanesborough Hotel?

This weekend the King Of Pop and his entourage are due to arrive in London courtesy of the WMA organisers in familiar style - via private jet.

It will be something of a nostalgic revisiting of his glory days, as they are believed to be heading for the Lanesborough Hotel in central London, which was always his bolthole of choice in the capital.

He likes the Lanesborough because it is close to Hamleys toy shop, which used to open up for him in the middle of the night. He also likes the hotel because they were willing to make him 'comfortable', sending staff out to pick up his favoured Kentucky Fried Chicken meals.

    (Daily Mail)

  • Jackson freak show jets into London (:rolleyes)
    13.11.06

Michael Jackson, the singersongwriter turned freak show, arrived in London last night ahead of his first public performance in the UK in nine years.

Jackson has rarely appeared in public since being acquitted of child molestation charges in the US last year, reportedly dividing his time between Ireland and Bahrain.

But last night he took a private jet from Ireland to London, taking up residence in the Hempel Hotel, one of the capital's most fashionable places to stay.

Wearing dark glasses and a black suit, he was accompanied by bodyguards and at least two of his three children - Paris, Prince Michael and Prince Michael II.

One of his children, face covered by a black cloth, was carried into the hotel in Bayswater by a minder. Onlookers claimed that one of the children looked "petrified".

The arrival of Jackson, now aged 48, is likely to turn - as it usually does - into an extraordinary media circus.

He will stay at the Hempel Hotel at least until Wednesday, when he is due to perform at Earls Court for the World Music Awards.

Jackson, once lauded as the greatest pop star of all time and now widely ridiculed, is being presented with a Diamond Award in recognition of his achievement in selling more than 100million albums worldwide.

Jackson last performed in Britain in 1997. Since then he has been charged and tried over a series of allegations involving the sexual abuse of children at his Neverland ranch in California. He was cleared, although his career has never recovered.

Melissa Corken, founder of the World Music Awards, said: "We are thrilled to be bringing the World Music Awards to London, the music capital of the world"

The UK is home of many of the bestselling artists of all time. The presence of Michael Jackson is very exciting for us."

The ceremony takes place 25 years after the release of Jackson's bestselling album Thriller, which alone sold 40 million copies.

Other performers and guests include Diana Ross, Beyoncé, Mary J Blige, Faithless, Usher, Katie Melua, Bob Sinclar, Enya, Andrea Bocelli, Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado.

also doch HEMPEL Hotel, wie es ausschaut...
