Washington, D.C. ... Musik Superstar Michael Jakcson wird Tokio, Japan, besuchen, welches seinen ersten öffentlichen Auftritt seit Juni 2005 darstellen wird.

Am Samstag, den 27. Mai 2006, wird Mr. Jackson den MTV Japan "Legend Award" bei den MTV Japan Music Awards erhalten, für seine außergewöhnlichen und rekordebrechende Karriere in der Musikindustrie erhalten. Mr. Jackson ist ein Vorreiter, der noch nie dagewesene Standards gesetzt hat durch seine Musikvideos wie "Thriller", "Bad" oder "Smooth Criminal".

Während Mr. Jackson in Japan ist, wo seine Platten kontinuierlich die Charts anführen, mit über 100.000.000 verkaufter Alben alleine in Japan, wird er Waisenhäuser besuchen, die Stadt von Tokio betrachten, und sich mit Mitgliedern der asiatischen Geschäftsindustrie treffen, die von Broderick D. Anschließend will der "King of Pop" nach Singapur, Schanghai und Hongkong weiterreisen. Jackson lebt seit Juni vergangenen Jahres in Bahrain. Er hoffe, 2007 ein neues Album zu veröffentlichen, erklärte Bain weiter. Derzeit arbeite Jackson noch an einem Benefiz-Song für die Opfer des Hurrikans "Katrina" vom August 2005.

Jackson to appear at Japan awards

Singer Michael Jackson will make a rare public appearance at the MTV Japan Awards on Saturday.

Jackson, 47, will receive the Legend Award at the Video Music Awards in Tokyo, said his spokesman Raymone Bain.

"I look forward to seeing old friends and saying hello to my huge fan base in Japan," said Jackson in a statement.

He said fans in Japan, where he has sold more than 100 million albums "had consistently shown their love and support to me and my family".

The pop star moved to the Gulf state of Bahrain after being acquitted of child molestation charges in California last year.

Jackson's schedule in Tokyo will include visiting orphanages and meeting with members of Japan's business community, the statement said.

It marks the launch of his Asian tour, to include visits to Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Ms Bain said that Jackson plans to return to recording and hopes to release a new album in 2007.
