Michael Jackson in Japan 30 minutes ago
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060526/people...an_jackson_dc_1
TOKYO (Reuters) - Michael Jackson arrived in Japan on Friday to appear at his first public event since his acquittal on sex-abuse charges last June, his local agent in Japan said.
Jackson plans to attend an award ceremony in central Tokyo on Saturday and an orphanage on Sunday, said Broderick Morris, Jackson's local agent in Japan.
The 47-year-old singer, one of the top-selling recording acts of all time, now lives in the Gulf state of Bahrain.
He was acquitted by a jury last June of all charges stemming from accusations made by a teenage boy that he had been molested by Jackson at his Neverland Valley Ranch in central California.
But his career as an entertainer and recording artist has been left in shambles

Michael Jackson ends seclusion for MTV show in Japan
TOKYO (AFP) - Pop singer Michael Jackson arrived in Tokyo to receive an award, breaking nearly a year of seclusion since he was acquitted on child molestation charges.
He will appear Saturday at the MTV Video Music Awards in Tokyo to receive its "Legends Award," announced Positive Productions, which is promoting the trip to Japan.
Jackson, 47, has sold more than 100 million albums in Japan alone, said his US-based spokeswoman, Raymone Bain.
While in Japan, Jackson will visit orphanages, tour Tokyo and meet with members of Japan's business community, Bain's office said in a statement.
Jackson, who broke into the music business as the youngest of the Jackson brothers, went solo to record "Thriller," "Bad" and "Smooth Criminal" albums.
"I look forward to seeing old friends and saying hello to my huge fan base in Japan, who, like my other fans around the world, have for so many years consistently shown their love and support to me and my family," Jackson said in the statement.
After being acquitted in a sensational trial in June 2005, Jackson left the United States and his 1,000-hectare (2,500-acre) Neverland ranch for the relative anonymity of Bahrain.
The fallen icon announced last month that he has restructured debt repayments, believed to total hundreds of millions of dollars, with the help of Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news).

"I look forward to seeing old friends and saying hello to my huge fan base in Japan, who, like my other fans around the world, have for so many years consistently shown their love and support to me and my family," said Jackson in a statement.
The award starts at 3pm on Saturday, which is 8am in London on Saturday, and varying from 3am on Saturday to 10pm on Friday in USA.
Japan is 15 hours ahead of usa eastern time.

We have just come back from one of the hotels Michael will probably stay. We met a lot of Micheal fans to exchange information, and we are pretty certain that Michael is not yet on the land of Japan. It is just past midnight now in Japan time, and, Michael will, we presume, arrive here in the morning and will go to the ceremony venue straight away.I must tell you that the spirits of Japanese fans are high!
