It is now 13:45 on June 4 in Tokyo.
I heard from several people that Michael played billiards in the program, but, until we see it on the TV screen (that is in about 32 hours from now), I cannot confirm it.
TV commercial for the program has been aired, and I can see that Fuji TV is certainly trying to make the program a very special occasion.
As you can imagine, we have now started counting hours now (and it will be minutes, and then seconds!).

I have read the computer translation of the SMAP program outline above. Oh, dear. I can imagine this must have confused you, as the translation is not really accurate. What it means by "performance" I think is acruallly "participation."

I must tell you one thing. Nothing much is explained here, as the whole content of the program is supposed to be a "secret surprise" for the viewers.

When I see the program tomorrow night (it is about 25 hours from now), everything will be clear. Alghough I do not have the facility to upload the video, (which, I hope, some other Japanese fans will be able to handle) I will try my best to translate what is said in the program.

By the way, Shingo Katori, one of the SMAP members, appeared in another program of his and talked about what the SMAP members felt when they received Michael Jackson. He said that the biggest dream in life he had was to meet and talk with Michael Jackson in the program, and, now that the dream had come true, he lost all the purpose in life (he said it in an excited tone).

He was saying that all other members became almost eside themselves by the whole thing. They told each other that whatever would happen in the future, they didn't believe that nothing would surprise them more than Michael's visit this time. (One of the member said, even if the deceased members of the Beatles ressurected and came to their program, they would not be so surprised or so happy as they felt when they had Michael in SMAP SMAP).

Somehow, we have not received any confirmation on the exact place Michael left for after leaving Japan. There is only speculation. I am sure there will be a formal announcement quite soon, though.

Jackson Drops In On SMAP

The members of pop group SMAP got quite a surprise last night when Michael Jackson made an unannounced visit to the studio where they were recording the Fuji TV show "SMAPxSMAP". Jackson arrived on the set in the middle of a performance, catching the five local superstars completely by surprise. Group leader Nakai Masahiro (33) could only gape, wide-mouthed, while Katori Shingo (29) fell laughing to the floor at the sight of "nama Maikeru". After they recovered, they exchanged high fives and Jackson chatted with them for about ten minutes and praised their singing (well, as a guest I suppose you have to be polite!). His appearance will be included on the episode that airs on Monday, June 5.

mkgenie from MJJF said Raymone confirmed Michael will not be landing in either Shanghai or Hong Kong this week.

if this is true then i guess he'll either go to France or Singapore.

The bit below seems to be saying that Michael's stay was extended because of the SMAPxSMAP appearance, that was decided last minute, but that he originally was due to leave yesterday. Then it says that MJ is rumoured to be going to Singapore or France next.

At 20:30, June 1, the SMAP staff got the telephone from Michael's people that Michael left the hotel. They were over the top.
Am 1. Juni um 20:30 Uhr erhielten SMAP Mitarbeiter von Michaels Team einen Anruf, in dem ihnen mitgeteilt wurde, dass Michael das Hotel verlassen habe. Sie haben sich wahnsinnig gefreut.

The SMAP staff in the studio intentionally delayed SMAP's song rehearsal so that Michael would arrive in time for the members to receive Michael there.
Die SMAP Mitarbeiter haben die Songproben absichtlich zeitlich nach hinten geschoben, so dass Michael rechtzeitig dort ankommen und von ihnen in Empfange genommen werden konnte.

The staff arranged a kind of "candid camera" situation to make the encounter a total surprise for the SMAP.

The SMAP members sees Michael off to the van. Michael leaves the studio, with fans giving cheers.

The members go back to the room where they talked with Michael and reflect. Michael presented the members with the autographed CDs (The Number Ones). They were just so happy.

It was just like a dream to watch Michael on Japanese TV like this. He was looking so great.
Es war wie ein Traum, Michael so im japanischen Fernsehen zu sehen. Er sah so gut aus.
He looked relaxed and happy.
Er sah erholt und glücklich aus.

The SMAP members were so overwhelmed by Michael's visit that they were almost incomprehensible. They could not properly ask questions, all what they could do was just showing their admiration for the man. Had they been prepared better, they could have asked more constructive questions, perhaps. It is a pity in a way.
SMAP waren so überwältigt von Michaels Besuch, dass sie fast kein Wort herausbrachten. Sie konnten keine richtigen Fragen stellen, sie waren einfach nur in der Lage, ihrer Bewunderung für diesen Mann Ausdruck zu verleihen. Wenn sie besser vorbereitet gewesen wären hätten sie vielleicht auch bessere Fragen stellen können. Irgendwie schade.

Quatsch, die waren total in Ehrfurcht vor ihm. Er ist für die halt ein richtig großer - Gott sei dank.
Und man darf nicht vergessen, dass MJ im Moment noch ganz unten ist. Er muss sich zeigen und mal ein paar Shows machen, die er vielleicht sonst nicht machen (wollen) würde.
Was ich ihm aber hoch anrechne ist, dass man es ihm nicht ansieht wenn er irgendwo ungern ist. Ich habe noch nie einen Auftritt von ihm gesehen, wo es aussieht, als habe er keinen Bock.

Richtig, das war etwas schlecht organisiert, was die Übersetzung angeht. Ausserdem kann jeder, der mal in so einer Situation war, wo man von Leuten umgeben ist, in einem fremden Land, wo man KEIN WORT versteht, das bestätigen. Man IST ein wenig orientierungslos. Aber das kann man nicht annähernd mit Wetten Dass '99 vergleichen.

Hier ist er gut drauf, nur zögert er teils. Was, wie gesagt, nur verständlich ist, in so einer Situation. Außerdem ist es einer der ersten Auftritte nach dem Prozess. Das darf man auch nicht vergessen.

was is mit seinen "auftritten" bei gericht ? da sah er net begeistert aus :blll

Der Auftritt war zweischneidig. Einerseits versteht er nicht, was die anderen für Witze (über ihn?) machen, trotzdem behält er seine gute Laune.
Andererseits zeigt er Humor, wenn er in so eine Show kommt - Respekt. Und er hat normal tief gesprochen und nicht so gekünstelt hoch - auch sehr gut. Jedenfalls darf er mit dem, was er erreicht hat, ein Selbstbewusstsein haben, dass jedem Lacher trotzt. Er ist der größte Entertainer aller Zeiten.

EDIT: Dumm fand ich am Ende die Lacher, als er an dieser TV-Wand war, hätte er auch lassen können ...
