ZitatAlles anzeigenMichael Jackson was going to record my songs... now I’m going to play them myself, says Ne-Yo
R&B star Ne-Yo is planning a Michael Jackson tribute album featuring songs he claims the late singer planned to record.
The 31-year-old chart-topper says he met with Jackson to discuss the new album in the months before the superstar died at home in Los Angeles in June 2009.
The American says he wrote and demoed 10 songs that Jackson was set to record as his next long-player.
Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith Jnr, said: “I never got the opportunity to go in the studio and record the songs with Mike so all the tracks still have my voice on them."
“They are all in demo form. We were going to go into the studio and record them after his tour."
“Of course, with his passing, we didn’t get the chance to do so."
“So I still have the songs. They are sitting in my archive, safe and sound, and I have been trying to figure out what I am going to do with them. The best idea I have is to go in and do my own Michael Jackson tribute album."
“I’ll re-sing the songs to the best of my ability and I will put them out and let the world know these are the songs that would have been blessed with the voice of Michael Jackson had he not left us so soon.”
Recalling his meeting with Jackson, Ne-Yo added: “I met Mike in New York. Someone told me he was a fan of my music and wanted to talk to me about working on his forthcoming project."
“So we met at a friend’s house. He was a genuinely nice guy, not because he wanted something from me or wanted me to feel comfortable so I would write songs for him."
“He was talking about music and the love of music. We parted ways after a few hours and I walked away able to say I had sat and had a conversation with a legend.”

NEWS : Fulham F.C Set To Unveil Michael Jackson Statue
Written by Tego Sigel on 16 Mar 2011Somebody get Example on the phone, his team Fulham F.C have gone mad and announced that the club will pay homage
to a man who went to one of their matches once with a statue outside the ground.
Many thought Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed’s plans to erect a Michael Jackson statue outside of their home ground
Craven Cottage were a joke when they first surfaced last year. But today FulhamFC.com have confirmed that a likeness honouring
the King of Pop will indeed be erected on Sunday April 3.Al Fayed had commissioned the statue to stand outside his Harrods store but since selling the organisation he has been searching
for the appropriate location to celebrate his friendship with the late Thriller star. Speaking via the Fulham website Mohamed offered
“Michael Jackson was truly a legend, a term used too often in this modern world saturated in the hyperbole surrounding celebrity.”
Continuing “He was my friend, a man with whom I shared many happy memories and who died a tragic and untimely death.
He left behind a legacy of music so vast it takes one’s breath away; from a precocious talent to an ingenuity and ground breaking
modernity that shall never be repeated. It shall often be imitated, but it will never be replicated, Michael Jackson was, and shall always remain, one of a kind.”Al Fayed said the statue will be for Fulham and Michael Jackson fans alike “I hope that many fans of his will visit the statue at the Cottage
from far and wide, and that Fulham fans will appreciate seeing the finest performer in the world, in and amongst them, the finest fans in the world.”We can’t wait to see it.

Hughes defends Jackson statue
Mark Hughes has insisted Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed had earned the right to erect a statue of Michael Jackson at Craven Cottage.
Al Fayed, a close friend of the late performer, has caused controversy after announcing he had decided to place the tribute to Jackson outside the Cottagers' stadium.
The statue was commissioned following Jackson's death in June 2009 and was due to be erected at Harrods before Al Fayed sold the Knightsbridge store.
The decision to relocate it to Craven Cottage is likely to divide opinion, with statues at football grounds generally reserved for club legends.
Jackson's links to Fulham are tenuous to say the least - he watched a game there as a guest of Al Fayed in 1999 - while the singer was also dogged by controversy during his lifetime.
But Cottagers boss Hughes refused to criticise Al Fayed, saying: "In fairness to the chairman, he's fully supported this club for a long time now, put in something like £200million. And if he wants to make that gesture to somebody who he knew personally then who am I to pass comment on it."
