Michael Jackson Bad album set for re-release (Snippets S. 59)

  • Michael Jackson Bad album set for re-release

Michael Jackson's 1987 album Bad may be issued again with previously unreleased songs.

Michael Jackson's album 'Bad' sold 30 million copies worldwide

Michael Jackson's Estate are reportedly considering plans to re-release
the 1987 album Bad with previously unreleased bonus songs.

The original album sold more than 30 million copies around the world and was
the final album he worked on with Quincy Jones.

Jackson is already the top-earning deceased celebrity, with sales of $170 million
over the past year, according to a list released last month by financial website
    Forbes.com.
He is also the second highest-earning pop music act this year, dead or alive,
    behind U2.

According to MTV the reissued Bad album may also be followed by another album
of unheard tunes 'from unreleased material left in the vaults after Jackson's death.'

On 21 November, Epic Records will release Immortal – the soundtrack for Cirque du
Soleil's Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour.
That show is generating average ticket sales of $1 million a night.
The 2009 documentary This Is It grossed $200million worldwide and his posthumous
album Michael sold more than 500,000 copies. Added to a video game, it has brought
more than £1bilion into the estate since Jackson's death in 2009.
When the Immortal show hits Las Vegas in December it will coincide with the annual
Michael Jackson Fan Fest (December 3-14). Among the memorabilia on show is
Jackson's 10,000 book library from his Neverland Ranch home, including his collection of the poetry of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
In December, in Los Angeles, there will be an auction of Jackson memorabilia from the mansion where Jackson spent his final day.

  • [h=2]Michael Jackson estate considering ‘Bad 25′ and brand new album in 2012[/h]

Weitzman says that in addition to the Cirque show,
the Michael Jackson estate is contemplating several other projects. The 25th anniversary of the Bad album in 2012 may be commemorated
with a special package similar to 2008′s Thriller 25, while another set of unreleased material to follow 2010′s Michael collection is also being considered.
“It’s a pretty vibrant estate in the sense that it continues to generate not just catalog opportunities but plenty of other ideas,” Weitzman says.
As for the tribute concert, which is slated to feature performances by the Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Ne-Yo and Cee Lo Green,

Weitzman says the estate is “kind of watching it like everybody else. They’ve never really had any discussions with us, so we’re just watching it all go by.”

  • [h=1]Pepsi Partners With Michael Jackson Estate for Commemorative Packaging[/h][h=2]Limited-Edition Package Coincides With 25th Anniversary of 'Bad'[/h]

Jackson in a spot for Pepsi

Pepsi is paying homage to the King of Pop one more time. The brand is working with Michael Jackson's estate to create a limited-edition package featuring the singer, according to an executive close to the company.
The package coincides with the 25th Anniversary of the "Bad" album, which was released on Aug. 31, 1987.
The package will be a 16 oz. can available in convenience stores and grocery stores around Memorial Day, according to Beverage Digest.
The can, said to have a blue background with an image of Mr. Jackson dancing, is expected to cost 99 cents. Pepsi declined to comment.
Pepsi sponsored the 1988 Bad World Tour. The tour spanned 16 months, with 123 concerts in 15 countries attended by 4.4 million fans.
It was the largest-grossing tour in history and the one with the largest audience.
The brand's relationship with Mr. Jackson dates to 1984 and the "New Generation" campaign. The singer's hair caught fire during a commercial shoot that was part of that campaign.
Mr. Jackson appeared in a number of ads for the brand over the years, performing versions of "Billie Jean" and "Bad," among other songs.
Pepsi has a long association with music but has been emphasizing it in the past year. It poured $60 million into a sponsorship of "X Factor,"
Simon Cowell's music competition, and featured the show's winner, Melanie Amaro, in a Super Bowl spot.
The tagline for the ad, created by TBWA/Chiat/Day was "Where there's Pepsi, there's music."

Earlier this week, Pepsi confirmed to Ad Age its relationship with singer Nicki Minaj, who is said to be appearing in a new global campaign for the brand.

  • Das klingt spannend.. wäre natürlich der Hammer, wenn es die Dosen weltweit zu kaufen gibt und Michael uns in jedem Supermarkt von den Dosen antänzelt

  • Spike Lee Making Doc For 25th Anniversary Of Michael Jackson’s “Bad”

Spike divulged how he’s had some of the greatest times of his life in Brazil like when he shot They Don’t Really Care About Us with Michael Jackson there. He provided a couple of MJ anecdotes and a short impersonation of MJ’s “falsetto” voice and his “serious/angry” voice. It was funny. I don’t know if he actually hedged on this answer because the film will be a touristy piece showcasing Brazil or if it will actually broach the subject of inequality, but he got distracted by his MJ anecdote.

On A New MJ Tribute Film

    - Spike announced that he recently began filming a piece for the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Bad album.
