Ending 18 months of seclusion in Europe, reclusive superstar Michael Jackson was on a plane to the United States late Saturday bound for Las Vegas, where he plans a comeback.

Jackson and his three children, Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II were due to arrive before midnight at a private executive terminal at McCarran International Airport, sources said.

We hear that Jackson's friend, Las Vegas dealmaker Jack Wishna, was instrumental in having the pop icon move back to the United States.

Reminiscent of Howard Hughes' secretive arrival in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving Day in 1966, Jackson's surprise move came after his father, Joe Jackson, vowed his son would not live in the United States again.

The 48-year-old deposed King of Pop has lived in Bahrain and a Celtic castle in Ireland since being acquitted in California of child molestation charges in June 2005.

Wishna, reached by telephone, wouldn't comment, other than to confirm Jackson was moving to Las Vegas and to say, "We are working on several projects."

Jackson has had more than a dozen No. 1 hits on the U.S. charts, the last in 1995. He has not toured since the mid-1990s.

Wishna wouldn't say where Jackson might land on the Strip. Wishna made headlines during Jackson's trial when he courted the entertainer, saying a Jackson comeback would earn a Celine Dion-like contract in Las Vegas.

Calling Jackson "one of the greatest entertainers in the world," Wishna said the singer "is poised to return to the top of the entertainment world soon."

It's the latest coup for Wishna. Two years ago, he brokered a deal that put Donald Trump's $2.8 billion Trump International Hotel & Tower on Phil Ruffin's New Frontier site.

After arriving in Las Vegas in 1999, Wishna put together a deal potentially worth $250 million for Wayne Newton at the Stardust. Wishna has dealt with Michael Flatley, Britney Spears, Richard Branson and Mohamed al-Fayed on Las Vegas deals.

    THE SCENE AND HEARD

I hear Mario Lopez, runner-up on "Dancing With the Stars," will host the Miss America telecast Jan. 29 on the CMT network at the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood. Lopez follows James Denton of "Desperate Housewives." Lopez was married to Miss USA 1996 Ali Landry for two weeks in 2004 until she learned some scandalous details about his bachelor party at the Palms. ...

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx has a film in the works that had its genesis in Las Vegas, when he lived here during the 1990s. Following up on a conversation we had four years ago, I asked him on Friday if the project, based on a Vegas stripper he knew who turned into a serial killer, was moving ahead. He confirmed he's producing it and has a script for the film, which is titled "Gone By Sunday." ...

Former Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees changed her tune on Saturday, admitting the raunchy photos of her were taken three years ago, not five. Rees, 22, apologized during a news conference in Clearwater, Fla., saying, "So many of us don't realize how our actions, even one night of poor judgment, can affect the rest of our lives." She added, in a prepared statement, "These images were from an isolated incident during my teenage years, long before my consideration to compete in the Miss USA program. While I take full responsibility for the photographs, I just want everyone to know the truth: This incident does not represent who I am."

    SIGHTINGS

Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, who has plans to open a stud-farm brothel in Pahrump, spotted shopping for power drills and air filters Friday at Home Depot on Decatur Boulevard.

    THE PUNCH LINE

"More controversy with pageant queens. Miss Nevada has been stripped of her crown for illicit pictures of her found on the Internet. People were afraid this could hurt the state's image. That's the last thing Nevada needs -- an image problem." -- Jay Leno

    NORM: Jackson thrills Forum shoppers

A Christmas Eve shopping spree by Michael Jackson had the Forum Shops at Caesars in an uproar Sunday.

Mobs of star-struck, flashbulb-popping shoppers followed the pop icon, who arrived in Las Vegas late Saturday with his three children after 18 months overseas.

Jackson, who reportedly plans to make his home in Las Vegas and reignite his career, was surrounded by heavy security as he did his last-minute shopping.

It's not the first time Jackson has explored a comeback in Las Vegas.

In late 2002, I reported here that a Jackson deal involving magical illusion was close to happening.

That report came a few months after Jackson had spent about two months in Las Vegas attending shows that featured illusions. He has long been fascinated with magic.

Those plans may have been sidetracked a year later when he faced trial on molestation charges involving a teenage cancer survivor at Jackson's Neverland Ranch estate.

  • "If he's there for a Family Visit and its not Private and Angel can share with us Im sure she will.
There are many Jackson's that live in Vegas.. Mr Jackson being just one
There are lots of Family Members he could see in Vegas."

"Yes, I just received confirmation over here!!!
I just got a phonecall and it has been confirmed. I am not allowed at this point to disclose whom the call was from. I suggest you leave this thread open until more details come in.
As soon as I know, I will let you all know to."

"Local radio stations in Vegas mentioned the specific airport that Michael arrived at (S.A.T.). He is said to have arrived on the 23rd, shortly before midnight.
They have named the hotel that he is most-likely staying at and at least one report said the plan was to give him a gig where he'd play there for several years, much like Céline Dion.
I'm pretty sure now that this is true (except the "Celine Dion" style performance bit which could very well just be a rumor)."

"Ok guy's, Michael has arrived in Las Vegas. He arrived last night at a special airport and was quickly picked up and taken to an undisclosed location. The plan is he is in negotiations with the same people who contracted with Celen Dion and Prince and Tony Braxton. It is known that Michael is there to work out some performing details, what, Don't know yet.
According to the Las Vegas News stattions, it has been televised all day regarding Michael's return to the US.
I just had a phone conversation with my relative who lives in Las Vegas. Also, I am in Las Vegas all of the time as I own rental property there. I've read about Michael and this Wynn guy have been friends for a very long time. He has extened an invitation to Michael last year. Now, maybe Michael is interested in persuing his offer."

Michael Jackson Coming to Las Vegas???
    December 24th, 2006

Wow, I thought the rumor about Prince was ridiculous … until Prince showed up at the Rio.

Now, the local buzz flying around says that “The King of Pop” will be setting up shop at an unnamed casino right here on the Las Vegas Strip.

This rumor has actually been floating around for a long time, but it’s been picking up steam as of late.

Word has it that he is in town at this very moment, as I type this, to hammer out the details.

Will it happen? Will it not happen?

I don’t know for 100% certain. But I have candidly spoken to some reliable insiders who should know, and they say that it’s a done deal.

And hell yes, I will see the show.

    He’s still Michael-F ! % K I N G-Jackson (no pun intended).

I saw him live in the mid-80’s, and I could care less what he does in his spare time, he puts on a kickass show. And that’s what I pay to see. A kickass show.

    Come on, Mike.

    Make the official announcement already.

ENDS EXILE HOPING TO LAND VEGAS ACT

By BOB SHEMELIGIAN in Las Vegas and PAULA FROELICH and DAVID K. LI in New York

December 25, 2006 -- Michael Jackson has ended his self-imposed U.S. exile - landing in Las Vegas over the weekend with hopes of revitalizing his dormant music career, sources told The Post.
Jackson sparked a mini-riot yesterday when he went shopping at the posh stores of Caesars Palace.
Hundreds of tourists crowded Jacko - who was wearing dark pants, a white shirt and a black leather jacket - and three hotel security guards.
He spent only 15 minutes window shopping at a Sony store, before ducking out a back door.
"He's amazing. His moves, his music. He's unique. He's a legend," gushed Los Angeles resident Natalie Natalynorohian, 28.
Another 28-year-old tourist from L.A., Cathy Bamshad, said she's admired Jackson since she was a little girl.
"When I was a child, I had Michael Jackson posters, Michael Jackson sweaters, everything was about MJ," she said.
Jackson, 48, hasn't been seen in the United States since he moon-walked out of a California courthouse in June 2005 after being acquitted of kiddie-sex charges.
"Yes, he's here, and yes, we're working on projects. But we're not willing to disclose anything," said Sin City businessman and Jackson pal Jack Wishna.
Almost immediately after the verdict, Jackson and his kids - sons Prince Michael I, 9, and Prince Michael II, 4, and daughter Paris, 8 - headed overseas.
They had been living as guests of rich pals in Bahrain, Ireland and other countries.
Jackson and his children touched down in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Wishna said.
The Gloved One's publicist declined to discuss the singer's whereabouts and denied Jackson has ties to Wishna.
"They don't know each other, and they're not friends," said spokeswoman Raymone Bain.
The singer has several personal links to Las Vegas. One of his sisters, Maureen "Rebbie" Jackson, has been a longtime Vegas resident, while father Joe Jackson owns property and lives there most of the year.
Veteran Vegas show producer Jeff Beacher said Sin City is Jackson's best shot at jump-starting a dead career.
"Vegas is about wild and weird and crazy. If Michael Jackson is going to come back, this could be the place to do it," Beacher said.
While Wishna declined to detail any projects Jackson has in mind, sources said the fallen star is looking to score a long-term hotel showroom deal à la Celine Dion and Elton John.
Jackson has no known offers on the table and is in Vegas with hat in hand, looking to generate any buzz he can, insiders said.
Even though Jackson hasn't had a hit in decades, Wishna said his pal would still draw fans.
"I believe America likes a comeback story," said Wishna.

The man who announced that he would welcome Michael Jackson on the strip in Las Vegas, Jack Wishna speaks out exclusively for the first time to MichaelJackson.hu!

"I'm 47 years old and grew up on Jackson 5 music and then Michael Jackson's solo songs. I created the concept and sold Michael and Michael's people on the idea first."- said Mr. Wishna about the beginnings.

Mr. Wishna revealed to us that the "Michael Jackson At Live" show would take place in a major hotel and casino project on the strip in Las vegas. Mr. Jackson would perform a few times a week.

"I met personally with Michael Jackson about a year ago. He loved the idea and told his people to get it done."
    - said Mr. Wishna.

However the two didn't meet since Mr. Jackson's acquittal, Mr. Wishna is still interested in having Mr. Jackson in Las Vegas. Now it's up to the King Of Pop.

Lucky Vegas may hit the MJ-pot

    BY BILL HUTCHINSON
    NY DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

The Las Vegas strip is adding a new glitzy icon - Michael Jackson.
The King of Pop is leaving his self-imposed exile overseas and heading for Sin City, claims Vegas dealmaker Jack Wishna.

Wishna told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the 48-year-old entertainer is planning a big comeback in the gambling mecca.

"We are working on several projects," Wishna told the newspaper.

Jackson and his children - Prince Michael, 9, Paris, 8, and Prince Michael II, 4 - arrived in Las Vegas Saturday night from Ireland, where they've been living part-time in a castle.

Since his June 2005 acquittal on child molestation charges, Jackson has been splitting his time between Bahrain and Ireland.

Jackson's surprise relocation back to the States comes just a day after his father, Joe Jackson, vowed his son would never live in this country again. Wishna would not reveal where on the Strip Jackson plans to relaunch his career, but he said the Grammy-winning superstar could be bigger in Vegas than Celine Dion.

"One of the greatest entertainers in the world is poised to return to the top of the entertainment world soon," Wishna said.

Michael Jackson, Children to Live in Las Vegas, Reports Say

LAS VEGAS, December 25, 2006 - Reports say pop superstar Michael Jackson's in Las Vegas -- and might be planning to restart his entertainment career.

But Jackson's dad says here today that he hasn't heard from him.

Joe Jackson isn't denying that Jackson and his three children arrived at McCarran International Airport late Saturday from Dublin, Ireland.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Jackson and a security entourage went on a Christmas shopping spree Sunday at The Forum Shops at Caesars on the Las Vegas Strip.

Michael Jackson landed in Las Vegas this past weekend and set up shop in this new house, which he (presumably) bought with someone else's money.

The cash-strapped entertainer is planning a "comeback" in Las Vegas and hopes to launch a show on the strip.
On Saturday, the pop star and entourage went shopping at the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, sources tell PerezHilton.com.
"It was a freak show," says a spywitness. "There must have been 400 people deep around Michael, falling over themselves."
Jackson's new home does not have a zoo or an amusement park, but it is in a gated community with lots of security.

The fabulous freaks of Sin City have warmed to Wacko's arrival.
"Vegas welcomes Michael with open arms, he's a genius, and not to mention wild and nuts which fits into Vegas perfectly! " says Jeff Beacher from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino , who was recently named by Rolling Stone Magazine "Best showman on the strip! "
"The city is getting hotter and crazier by the second and it was just a matter of time before someone like Michael moved out here and had a show," says Beacher.
    But....
    The real questions remain!
    Will MJ lipsynch???
And, will he be able to perform hopped up on pills???
